MEDIA RELEASE: 30 APRIL, 10AM

*SCAPE Playspace overseeing Grange Road has been transformed into RaceHub, an electric go-karting track which will also feature elements of fitness and wellbeing for the community. For the first time, members of the public will be able to experience electric karting under floodlights at *SCAPE, the first-ever in the Orchard Road shopping district.

RaceHub, which is a 200-metre long track at the basketball court, will go on till July 2022 with the programme likely to be extended till the Singapore Grand Prix season. The electric go-karts can reach speeds of up to 24 kilometres per hour, weigh about 27.8kg each and are about 1.4m long upon extension depending on body size.

RaceHub was declared open by Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Alvin Tan on 30 April and is being organised by the Legion of Racers (LOR) in partnership with *SCAPE, a non-profit organisation that supports and empowers youth to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Apart from the electric go-karts, RaceHub will also feature a six-station fitness pop-up, presented by Singapore-born fitness brand Fight Zone. Other partners for Race Hub include 2021 Singapore Premier League champions Lion City Sailors who will feature with player appearances, fan activations and football street culture.

Said Lim Keong Wee, co-founder of Legion of Racers, “RaceHub was conceptualised with the main idea of bringing people out to play and to experience new entertainment offerings right in the heart of the city.

“With Singapore opening up following more than two years of living under the blanket of a pandemic, we are more than excited to put together RaceHub to help bring families out together to soak in the experience of karting and keep fit right in the city.”

“Our youths of today are a dynamic group who are constantly looking out for new experiences. As part of our continued mission to pilot innovative concepts, *SCAPE is delighted to partner with Legion of Racers to launch an exciting slew of activities while injecting an exhilarating dose of fun at our premises. This partnership with LOR exemplifies *SCAPE’s commitment to collaborate with industry partners on youth development. We look forward to collaborating with more like-minded partners to bring other exciting and vibrant experiences to *SCAPE,” said Ivy Lim, Executive Director of *SCAPE.

One of the unique offerings for RaceHub is a six-station high intensity training pop-up which is being managed by Fight Zone, a Singapore-born fitness brand which combines fitness with elements of Muay Thai, a traditional form of Thai martial arts. The pop-up station at RaceHub includes punching and kicking bags for fans who are keen to learn more about Muay Thai and its benefits.

“The idea of Fight Zone at RaceHub was to have families have a go at the training stations while they enjoy the go-kart and other offerings and to learn a little more about the benefits of staying healthy from our fitness trainers,” said Sasidharan Unnithan, CEO of Fight Zone. Fight Zone operates three fitness centres in Novena Square, Suntec City and at AMK Hub.

Apart from Fight Zone, the Sailors will also be bringing elements of football into the *SCAPE arena in support of Race Hub. Sailors’ players will be making guest appearances at the facility over the course of the next three months, with the club’s creative team looking to create an explosion of colours with street art.  With Sailors’ members – The Crew – receiving preferential rates to try out electric karting under floodlights as part of the partnership, Sailors’ CEO Chew Chun-Liang is looking forward to a vibrant atmosphere returning to the heart of the city.

“The Lion City Sailors are proud to be part of this community project that has been put together by the Legion of Racers. It is an opportunity for fans of different genres of sports and fitness to connect and create new and lasting friendships,” he said.

Tickets for RaceHub’s go-karting experience can be purchased on the official website. RaceHub will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 9pm. Riding on the go-karts will cost $25 for adults and $20 for students and kids for a 10-minute block.
